One of the final steps in removing all of the internal and external parts is to capture the plunger spring and its plungers from the plunger tube.

What I now have is a stripped frame ready for cleaning and lubrication with its accompanying frame parts. Now might be the time for the customer to order a new trigger, grip safety, mainspring housing or even a new hammer and action job. Lots can be accomplished with a detail cleaning. Just ask !!
O.K., lets move on to the slide. The time and effort involved with the slide is much shorter compared to the frame.

I start by removing the firing pin stop plate which then frees up the firing pin and the firing pin spring. Again, if you bring me a Series 80 Colt the slide will have the safety plunger which will easily be removed and cleaned and correctly put back.

The only other remaining part left in the slide is the extractor. It is easily removed. The slide is now stripped, ready for a good bath and lube.
