As a member of The National Association of Federally Licensed Firearms Dealers (NAFLFD), I pledge to all current and future firearms and
gunsmithing customers:
1. To follow all federal, state and local laws regarding the sale and transfer of
firearms at all times.
2. To not sell a firearm to anyone who even hints that it might be illegally
used, even if they can pass all the federal, state and local regulations.
3. To not sell a firearm to anyone who even hints it will be transferred to
another person for possible illegal use, even if the person requesting the
sale can pass all the federal NICS checks, or equivalent, and all other
federal, state and local sales requirements.
4. To never sell a firearm without first explaining all the safety features of that
firearm. I pledge to answer all safety questions at any time, and to tell my
customers that if they have any questions whatsoever, to call me for
answers. I pledge to check and be sure the safety manual is included with
any new firearm, and tell the customer to read the manual and call me
with anything he or she doesn't understand.
5. To have locks available for any customer who wishes to purchase a gun
lock. I will recommend a gun lock be purchased with every new and used
firearm, if not already on the firearm. I will tell every customer that if they
ever have any questions about their firearm, and the correct ammunition,
to bring it to me for a free evaluation.
6. To tell all my customers that if they re-sell their firearm, to re-sell it in a
responsible manner to a responsible individual. Or to bring it back to me
for consignment and resale to someone who meets all sales requirements,
plus my added personal pledge requirements, which are above and beyond
the federal, state and local requirements.
7. To cooperate to the best of my ability with my local Bureau of Alcohol,
Tobacco and Firearms (BATF) agent, and my local law enforcement
agencies. If there are suspicious individuals requesting the purchase of
firearms or gunsmithing services, I pledge to give that information to the
authorities. If I know of individuals acting as on-going unlicensed firearms
dealers, with regular repeat sales of new guns, I pledge to inform BATF
and the FBI of their actions.
